Talk Can be Great
My mind keeps jumping back to Fort Lauderdale at the end of a cruise, where I had the opportunity to get together with my adult biracial grandson. The look on his face as I told him old tales about his father (my oldest son). Not quite incredulous, not amazed — rather a sly gotcha’ grin and a twinkle in his blue eyes, at these stories he’d never ever heard! And then the priceless photo and his comment about his “cool” grandmother.
alan’s caption: my grandma is cooler than you are!
I’m so glad we had the long talk session and I for sure heard his philosophical side that his African-American step-brother mentioned to me in conversation the day before.
Bottom line, both of these young men are wonderful, not only physically but in the talent and brains arenas as well. I’m so proud of them both, pleased that I’ve gotten to know them and looking forward to more interaction when they drop in on me in Portland.
