Wonderful Cruise- Trip
In 2010 I took off on what became the absolute pinnacle of my travels — a 4-week cruise-trip beginning with flying through Newark to Barcelona, Spain. There I stayed in a small hotel in the Barri Gotic (exotic old town) and sought out the sights for 3 very full days. All fascinating — especially the incredible Gaudi architecture everywhere!
Then — drumroll! — it was time to embark on Norwegian Cruise Lines JADE for an amazing 12-day cruise to:
- Rome — wanted to go since living in France years ago
- Athens — oops, cancelled, lovely island of Crete instead
- Ephesus in Turkey — replete with incredible Roman ruins
- Alexandria & Cairo — of course the Gaza pyramids, sphinx — & in Cairo just 3 weeks before their revolution — whew!
Finally, back to Barcelona, from which I flew to Fort Lauderdale for time in the sun and Christmas enjoyed with grandson Troy, then granddaughter-in-law Jenn and great-grandson, Trevor. And finally home with a few days to recuperate before heading to the office.
Years before my 2nd ex and I were on a crazy 25-day tour through Portugal and Spain by bus and to Tangier, Morocco by ferry. But never so long a trip since – and I was way younger then. At least on the cruise I could flake out easily, especially with my cool balcony stateroom. And for sure I shot beaucoup pictures and did regular breathless blog posts.
