Celebrity for a Minute
A TIP OF THE Beaver Hat to Portlander Carolan Gladden for writing The First Book of Oregon Jazz, Rock and All Sorts of Music. The paperback is a chatty directory of most of the players — and places — on the Oregon music scene.
Gladden may not be the trendiest music writer on the West Coast. But her description of the Euphoria Tavern — “the biggest and the baddest of the raucous rock establishment” — suggests that she has mastered the art of getting her point across.
Of course my baby is long out of print,
but I love showing its clever cover —
map of Oregon as a grand piano (smile).
