C’est si bon
I had the pleasure years ago of sitting with a couple others in Portland’s Benson Hotel lobby when the late Eartha Kitt had a little time before her performance in the Crystal Ballroom. She loved the great poster a Portlander had created where her mane of hair trailed beautifully off the edge. She would be pleased to be included in a book I was writing.
And the most telling comment was when a guy who knew she had once shared an apartment with Marilyn Monroe asked how come she didn’t end up like Marilyn. Not missing a beat Eartha said, “When I come home I get out of the gown and I scrub the floor!” Grounded in who she was, and she was remarkable! (Note: My favorite is her “Cest si bon!” — it’s sooo good!)
